  • I was still steaming about this call the next day when Terrell Owens was called for excessive celebration after a touchdown catch. Most people I know dislike these "clever", premeditated, and sometimes designed-to-humiliate endzone skits, so I'm fine with stiffer enforcement of the rule.

  • I live in Seattle, where the stiffest anti-smoking law in the nation has been implemented. It's nice to be able to go out barhopping and come home not reeking like smoke. I like the net effect of the law.

  • There are plenty of jingoistic/xenophobic folks that blurt out this kind of statement, but I think a lot of people carry around a less hostile version of this sentiment, which is a feeling that immigrant groups should assimilate into the melting pot as past groups have.

  • I think most addictionologists subscribe to this theory, that there are genetic and biological predispositions to addiction. Certainly there seems to be some outside factor that makes Native Americans so vulnerable.
